INTAN JAYA - One of the military units under the command of the Indonesian Armed Forces Operational Command HABEMA, the Task Forces of the Raider Infantry Battalion 509/Balawara Yudha Kostrad, is currently conducting mobile security at the border of Indonesia and Papua New Guinea, especially in Intan Jaya Regency, Papua Tengah Province. On Sunday, 25 August 2024.
The 509 Task Forces conducted routine security patrols in the Titigi Village, Sugapa District. During the patrol, the Soldiers had an opportunity to visit the Titigi Market and carry out the “ROSITA” (Buy up Farming Products) program for the Titigi residents who were selling their farming products in the market.
The Commander of the 509 Task Forces, Lt. Col. Dian Dessiawan Setyadi, has emphasized to his Soldiers that it is mandatory to help local people facing difficulties in their assigned areas. Therefore, on that Sunday, the Soldiers took advantage of their patrol time by supporting the local community's economy, especially those selling their farming products.
By prioritizing security, the Soldiers had the opportunity to interact with and communicate with the sellers. Using their own pocket money, the Soldiers bought and brought the farming products traded that morning. Responding to the ROSITA program, the sellers were very happy because their farming products were sold out. A seller, Mama Ria Tabuni, said, "Thank you, Om Tentara (Soldier), God bless."
After receiving the activity report, the HABEMA Commanding General, Brigadier General Lucky Avianto, acknowledged the 509 Task Forces’ initiative to help the economy of Titigi residents. His words: "The 509 Task Forces' initiative is a testament to TNI's commitment to supporting the economy for sellers of farming products in the Titigi to support the acceleration of development in the Papua region." This acknowledgment from the highest authority in HABEMA underscores the importance of such initiatives and their impact on the region's development.
